How this works

We start from your income and the share you're comfortable spending, find the EMI that fits, and work backwards to the loan and on‑road price you can support at your down‑payment level. Then we add the real cost of living with the car — insurance and servicing, which climb each year — minus what you'll recover at resale. The goal isn't to talk you out of the car; it's to buy it with your eyes open.

Questions people ask

How much of my income should go to a car?

A widely used guide is the 20/4/10 rule: put at least 20% down, take a loan no longer than 4 years, and keep all vehicle costs under 10% of your income. This tool lets you pick your own EMI share so you can see the trade‑off.

What's included in the true cost?

The down payment, every EMI, and your annual insurance and service costs (grown each year), less the resale value at the end. If you sell before the loan is fully paid, the outstanding balance is netted off the resale.

Does it include fuel or road tax?

No — it focuses on the loan, insurance, servicing and resale. Fuel/charging, road tax and toll aren't modelled, so treat the result as a strong guide rather than a full budget.

Is my data stored?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser — nothing is stored, transmitted, or shared.

Disclaimer: This calculator provides estimates for informational and educational purposes only and is not financial advice. Actual affordability, loan terms, insurance, service costs, depreciation and resale value vary widely by model, lender, usage and market. Tax is not included: it ignores road tax, GST/cess and fuel, which can change the picture. Consider your own circumstances and consult a qualified professional before buying.
